"Music For Haunted Asylums" out now (Eighth Tower Records)
The fascination with abandoned haunted asylums is a topic that has captivated the interest of many people over the years. There are a few reasons why these locations tend to hold a certain allure. First of all Asylums have a rich and often dark history, which attracts those interested in exploring the past. These institutions were built during a time when mental health treatments were not well understood, and the conditions inside were often deplorable. The stories of patient mistreatment, unethical practices, and the overall eerie atmosphere make for compelling narratives. Abandoned asylums, with their decaying buildings, broken windows, and overgrown grounds, create an atmosphere of mystery and suspense. Also they have become the subject of numerous urban legends and ghost stories. Over time, these tales have contributed to the notion that abandoned asylums are haunted by the spirits of former patients or the ghosts of the past. This connection to the supernatural adds another layer of fascination for those interested in the paranormal.

The talented musicians showcased in this compilation have meticulously crafted their aural creations with the explicit intention of transporting listeners into the captivating realms of the abandoned asylums. Through their musical artistry and skillful composition, they have harnessed the power of sound to evoke a sense of wonder and immersion, inviting audiences to embark on a sensory journey into these haunting and mysterious places.

Music by insectarium, Kloob, phoanøgramma, Cult Of Light, The Black Monolith, Bjørn Jenkins, Nihil Impvlse, SÍLENÍ, Mombi Yuleman, OMENSWORN, Vyormouth, Iron Cthulhu Apocalypse, Vacant Stations, Psyonic Asylum.

https://eighthtowerrecords.bandcamp.com/album/music-for-haunted-asylums?fbclid=IwAR1fXyJorXtiYNuU77BaYLAWkt1Xwa8hr3209xn9i9cPcwu4IkMitQY0ppo
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3458114113410447100.post-82317560721074986432023-03-23T14:45:00.004-07:002023-03-23T14:54:23.492-07:00Antikatechon: "Sublime Ascension" CD reviewed on "Onda Rock"

Antikatechon, alias Davide Del Col, continua a pubblicare sull'etichetta polacca Heerwegen Tod Production, specializzata in black metal, dark-ambient, industrial e noise.

(Lorenzo Becciani)

https://m.suffissocore.com/scalbumreview/13579/antikatechon-sublime-ascension

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3458114113410447100.post-29612413547494601892023-02-10T09:07:00.000-08:002023-02-10T09:07:03.214-08:00Antikatechon: "Sublime Ascension" CD reviewed on "Sodapop"

(Fabrizio Garau)

https://www.thenewnoise.it/antikatechon-sublime-ascension/
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3458114113410447100.post-87853645240287219962023-01-25T07:57:00.003-08:002023-01-25T07:57:39.309-08:00Antikatechon: "Sublime Ascension" CD reviewed on "Ver Sacrum"

Rating: 7

(Roberto Alessandro Filippozzi)

http://www.darkroom-magazine.it/ita/108/Recensione.php?r=4883

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3458114113410447100.post-17925347157282796412022-12-21T11:21:00.003-08:002022-12-30T04:11:37.355-08:00Antikatechon: new album "Sublime Ascension" out now

Antikatechon "Sublime Ascension" (CD, Heerwegen Tod Production, 2022)

Antikatechon (the hermetic name adopted by experimental sound artist Davide Del Col) is a sonic post-industrial project newly back on track with an eerily addictive and multi-timbral soundscaping odyssey, plunging the listener in a vast spectrum of emotional ambivalence and raging then tranced out realms. They both were label mates on Rage In Eden Records and now joined hands together with Heerwegen Tod to unleash this opus featuring nine tracks.

Content: This album is made of dark reverie, a kind of imaginary sound universe composed with numerous instruments and noise sources. From dark electronic sound waves to field recordings and guitar effects played by guest musician Giuseppe Verticchio (Nimh), the work takes us away on a mysterious voyage. Organ sounds are reinforcing the mystery hanging over the work while delicate piano arrangements inject a somewhat classical and subtle touch. French spoken vocals have been added to a few tracks.

+ + + : “Complaintes Au Bord D’Un Autre Monde” is a dark title reflecting sadness and despair. These feelings have been perfectly reproduced by the dark reverie of the composition. Songs sometimes feel like a dark caress, created by a delicate touch of piano play and guitar. Some passages are however heavier, this way creating confusion. Wydawcą płyty jest polska wytwórnia Heerwegen Tod Production.

A więc chłód i skamieniałość. Wpatrzone w nicość postaci wyglądają jak posągi i taka też gra im martwa melodia. Zupełnie pusta i pozbawiona uczuć.

Ocena szkolna: 4

(Wujas)

https://www.darkplanet.pl/Day-Before-Us-Antikatechon-Complaintes-Au-Bord-D-un-Autre-Monde-52673.html?fbclid=IwAR1E9YjuI7oI9Xy5O6o_3IxWWxmHFXkiEb_cIHuovNAlXI6FWr5pL5Pg6LY
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3458114113410447100.post-28273567010829299612020-11-24T05:02:00.002-08:002020-11-24T05:04:14.789-08:00Day Before Us & Antikatechon: "Complaintes au Bord d'un Autre Monde" CD reviewed on "Onda Rock"

(Childeric Thor)

http://childericthor3.blogspot.com/2020/10/day-before-us-antikatechon-complaintes.html
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3458114113410447100.post-61062345883886334472020-09-29T03:36:00.002-07:002020-09-29T03:36:39.004-07:00Day Before Us & Antikatechon: "Complaintes au Bord d'un Autre Monde" CD reviewed on "Darkroom Magazine"

Rating: 7

(Roberto Alessandro Filippozzi)

http://www.darkroom-magazine.it/ita/104/Recensione.php?r=4442
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3458114113410447100.post-52616900747166676782020-09-14T09:38:00.002-07:002020-09-14T09:38:31.224-07:00Day Before Us & Antikatechon: "Complaintes au Bord d'un Autre Monde" CD reviewed on "Opduvel"

Day Before Us en Antikatechon spelen constant met dynamiek, timbre, gelaagdheid en dreigingsniveaus.

(Gert Derkx)

https://opduvel.com/2020/08/31/day-before-us-antikatechon-complaintes-au-bord-dun-autre-monde/?fbclid=IwAR3PhDEv4RTG68vptCy-cfXN4OxI2UxfqRmyqx82o2qn4Jxvb4VlZvIbqCs
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3458114113410447100.post-86145599954402625762020-08-13T03:46:00.005-07:002020-08-14T11:29:47.187-07:00Day Before Us & Antikatechon: "Complaintes au Bord d'un Autre Monde" CD reviewed on "The New Noise"Sorprende la collaborazione Del Col – Blache.

(Fabrizio Garau)

https://www.thenewnoise.it/balestrazzi-marutti-verticchio-del-col-un-po-di-dischi-dallarcipelago-post-industrial-italiano/?fbclid=IwAR26tqLbwXCdeuYmfjM3Kd0qJ3m2ChnhPH5aFt5nbcSi1l2tgXopvaS5X_U
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3458114113410447100.post-84750938527853384072020-07-23T02:31:00.000-07:002020-07-23T02:31:17.971-07:00Day Before Us & Antikatechon: "Complaintes au Bord d'un Autre Monde" CD reviewed on "Suffissocore"

(Lorenzo Becciani)

https://www.suffissocore.com/portal/scalbumreview/11835/day-before-us-%26-antikatechon-complaintes-au-bord-d%27un-autre-monde
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3458114113410447100.post-38493277572566156032020-07-02T01:30:00.000-07:002020-07-01T23:13:04.122-07:00Day Before Us & Antikatechon: "Complaintes au Bord d'un Autre Monde" CD out now
Day Before Us & Antikatechon "Complaintes au Bord d'un Autre Monde" (CD, Heerwegen Tod Production, 2020)

"Complaintes au Bord d'un Autre Monde" is a sorrowing, ascending and enveloping ambient music excursion delivered by two acclaimed contempary projects in the post industrial music field. Antikatechon (alias Davide Del Col) and Philippe Blache from Day Before Us have published a number of albums for indie labels specialized in dark music and experimental ventures. The quality of this collaborative work lies on the ability to associate soul crushing melodious textures with haunting and ominous soundscapes. The album is built around electronic loops, detached piano ostinato motifs, guitar infused tones and a vast collection of processed noises. The album intends to create immediate emotional shivers but also operates on a spiritual level. A collaborative release which subverts musical frontiers.

Background/Info: Italian artist Davide Del Col is back on track unleashing the fifth solo-album of his sonic brainchild Antikatechon.

Content: This new opus features only 2 long duration cuts. The artists takes you away in a shimmering sound universe featuring a truly arsenal of noises and rough sound treatments. There’s a slow progression operating. The second cut is more noisy-like and accomplished with a kind of Eastern-like guitar playing.

+ + + : There’s a great, overwhelming sound wave running through this work. The progressive evolution of the tracks ends into a cool electronic sequence at “The Stations Of Servitude”. The next cut “The Sanctum Of Saturation” sounds more minimal-like, but here again Antikatechon brings a fascinating input by this mysterious eastern-like atmosphere.

- - - : Both cuts are easily going over the 20 minutes, which also create some monotonous passages.

Conclusion: Antikatechon remains a fascinating project, which sounds as a solid sonic bridge between dark-ambient and cinematographic music.
